Treatment of Running Foot Injuries

Guiding you through your running foot injury rehabilitation involves the combination of the latest clinically researched treatment protocols and 20,000+ consultations experience to cater to your individual running needs.

A sports injury to the foot can have many contributing factors such as poor foot biomechanics, tightness and weaknesses, incorrect footwear and overuse to name just a few.  They can also be influenced by weaknesses further up the kinetic chain such as poor hip stability, upper leg weaknesses and tightness as well as in-correct building of running load (doing too much too soon).  For this reason Podiatrists will often work with Physiotherapists and other health professionals to complete the rehabilitation process.  At SportsMed Podiatry we work alongside some of the Gold Coast’s best Physiotherapists and if required we can communicate directly with them and more often to achieve the best outcomes.

Some of the treatments we use directly includes soft tissue release, dry needling, mobilising, manipulations, taping, padding, shockwave therapy, foot and ankle strengthening exercises, stretching programs and if required running orthotic devices.
